Summer Kitsilano

Kitsilano Summer Updates

With summer just around the corner, we want to keep you up to speed on the latest happenings and activities to do here in Kitsilano. With an emphasis on supporting local businesses, it is important that we remain resilient and united throughout these unpredictable times.

Farmers Market

The Kitsilano Farmers Market has updated their hours to help with wait times, due to its popularity last summer from 9:30 am-2:30 pm. The first half-hour is reserved for those who are more vulnerable to Covid-19 as well as to those with mobility issues. From 10:00 am onwards, it is open to the general public. Still located at the Kitsilano Community Centre, the Vancouver Farmers Market has now made shopping for local items available online! Simply go to https://eatlocal.org/markets/kitsilano/ to browse over 90 available vendors and their products and arrange a pick up time that works for you within their hours.

If you decide to visit, make sure to check out The Farm House for their delicious natural cheeses. They specialize in hand-making artisan cheeses from fresh, whole milk of their farm’s own cows and goats. We recommend the goat cheese brie, made from fresh goats’ milk with a smooth texture and creamy tang. They carry a variety of locally based artisan products such as jams, honey, gluten-free crackers and anything you’d need for a summer picnic.

Kitsilano Outdoor Pool Reopens

The admired and one of a kind saltwater swimming pool is now open again to the public and can be the perfect place for you to reconnect with friends and family. With reduced maximum capacities and Covid protocols in full effect, it’s sure to be one of the go-to spots again for locals in the area. Registration opens up 3 days in advance at noon and is required upon entry. To book your visit: Kitsilano Outdoor Pool Tickets

Mister Ice Cream Bar

This Yaletown favourite is now opening up its second location here in Kits.  Mister Ice Cream Bar prides itself on sourcing ingredients from local farmers in BC and strives to support the community wherever possible. The parlour will be dedicated to serving ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches and pints of unique flavours that are based on what the season has to offer and what’s in demand. Be sure to try their fresh strawberry ice cream sandwich, nestled between a graham cracker crust.

Mister will be located at 1835 West 1st Avenue and will be opening up just in time for summer.

Up and coming restaurant Delara

Delara is the new restaurant to take over the old space once occupied by Burgoo this summer. Chef Bardia Ilbeiggi, former chef of L’Abbatoir and Farmer’s Apprentice will open up his original concept restaurant inspired by his Iranian heritage. With an emphasis on creating “humble persian food”, it will surely be a great addition to the West 4th strip of restaurants.

Delara will be located at 2272 West 4th Ave.

Fable Kitchen

Looking for a bite to go? Check out Fable Kitchen’s pop-up with The Dirty Bird Sandwich Shop. They are offering a variety of gourmet sandwiches such as a pulled mushroom sandwich and a corned duck sandwich. They are open from Wednesday to Sunday at 11:30am to 7:00pm, located at 1944 West 4th Ave. Fable Kitchen has been serving the Kitsilano community since 2012 and has always focused on sourcing their ingredients locally, from farm to table, as their name implies. Check out their full menu here.

The business which used to operate solely through online orders will soon be setting up shop at 2766 West 4th Ave. Sadaf Rahimi, the owner and operator of the business, was named Best Immigrant Entrepreneur in the 2021 Small Business BC awards for her beautiful boards and grazing tables. Rahimi’s charcuterie boards feature artisan cheeses, meat, jam, olives, and other ingredients from local suppliers. Try out Charcuterie Vancouver for your next picnic or wine night!
